Internet Alaska provides a free, fully licensed copy of Netscape Communicater 4.5 and Internet Explorer 5.0 to all new customers whose computer meets the following requirements:

  • 486 or above processor
  • 24 MB of RAM minimum, 32 MB of RAM recommended
  • Minimum Hard Drive Space for Internet Explorer 5:
    • Minimum installation: 45 MB for install and 27 MB after restart
    • Typical installation: 70 MB for installation and 55 after restart
    • Full installation: 111 MB for installation and 80 MB after restart
  • Minimum Hard Drive space for Netscape Communicator 4.5
    • Minimum installation and operating space 30 MB
    • Typical installation and operating space 45 MB

New Login Name and Password

Your login name will become part of your E-mail address (for example: login@alaska.net) and should be 3-8 characters in length, all lower case. Your login name may include numbers, however it cannot start with a number and it cannot include any spaces, special characters, or punctuation. Once submitted, there is a $10 fee for changing your login name. The temporary password above is unique to your account, and meets the criteria for a good password. You may keep this password as your permanent password for Internet Alaska, or you may choose another password once you are on-line.
