Hardware and OS Requirements
For normal accounts, you will need:
Macintosh
- 8 Mb RAM (16 Mb recommended)
- System 7 and MacTCP, or Open Transport
- A modem. PolarNet recommends at least a 9600 baud data speed modem, and we support up to 56 Kbps modems.
- A telephone line.
PC
- 8 Mb RAM (16 Mb recommended)
- Windows 95, Windows 3.1, Windows NT, or Warp OS/2 with Internet Access Kit installed
- a 3.5" floppy disk drive
- A modem. PolarNet recommends at least a 9600 baud data speed modem, and we support up to 56 Kbps modems.
- A telephone line.
Software Requirements
Macintosh
- Macintosh computers require MacTCP or Open Transport, which is included with Macintosh System 7.5. Otherwise, the best way to obtain MacTCP is to purchase the Internet Starter Kit. You will also need MacPPP which is included in PolarNet's new subscriber packet.
Windows 3.1
- The PolarNet new subscriber packet includes all the software Windows 3.1 users need to get started.
Windows 95
- Windows 95 users will need their original Windows 95 CD-ROM to install the PolarNet software.
